Buddhism affirms that each person possesses a pure and noble Buddha nature. The Buddha nature does not distinguish between East and West, North and South, nor between languages and cultures. Buddhism is the way to a happy life.

The spirit of compassion, peace, tolerance and altruism that Buddhism espouses transcends ages and cultures, and is the common spiritual home of all human beings. Realising the value of life and living happier is a goal we all share as human beings. The wisdom of Buddhism can help us to achieve this goal.

Hai Hui Shan Buddhist Community is a non-profit religious organisation dedicated to promoting Buddhist culture to improve the quality of life of all living beings. All the activities it organises are free of charge. We hope that in the future more people will join us and join our public charity project.

The name Hai Hui Shan (海会山) comes from an ancient Chinese proverb: “Those who are united by the same will, will cross seas and mountains to meet each other”. It means that people who share the same vision do not feel distant because they are separated by seas and mountains, nor do they feel emotionally alien because they come from different countries and cultures.

Under this name, the Hai Hui Shan Buddhist Community aims to promote cultural exchange between East and West, to serve the overseas Chinese diaspora and the local community, and to contribute to world peace and prosperity through Buddhist culture and faith.

Master Renshan

“I became a monk after becoming aware that life and death show the nature of impermanence that governs the world. After studying the Buddhist scriptures, a desire was born in me to spread the Dharma. I wished that all people in the world could hear the voice of Buddhist wisdom.

May all the beings of the three thousand realms may be reborn in lotuses of the Pure Land. From the bottom of my heart, I hope to use the wisdom of Earth Buddhism to help all beings live a happy and fulfilled life.”

Master Renshan was born in 1980 in Shangshui, Henan province, into a Buddhist family. At the age of 12, he began reading Buddhist scriptures and books and found in them the hope of answering life’s fundamental questions. Inspired by the story of Siddhartha Gautama, he took an inner vow to become a monk. At the age of 15, under the guidance of his parents, he was ordained a monk by Elder Citing at the Wujin Rulai Zen Temple in Jiangsu and received the complete precepts under the guidance of Elder Benghuan at the Bishan Temple on Wutai Mountain in 2001. That same year, he traveled to Singapore to study the Buddhist scriptures and teachings. Master Renshan took vows to preach the Buddhist teachings for the rest of his life, fulfilling them without interruption from the beginning of his monastic life.

He has given talks and lectures in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Taiwan.

On 1 December 2019, Master Renshan founded the Hai Hui Shan Buddhist Community in Spain and is currently its president.
